Bend The Rules Blanket

I've been wanting to make this blanket for a long time now. A friend had made it first and gave me a few pointers.I made a plastic template, then using a water soluable pen, traced around it. I pinned it out with right sides together (duh..) then sewed on my tracing lines.
Instead of leaving two scallops open, like the directions said, I sewed around the entire blanket. Pinked the seams and cut the curves. Then, I cut about a 3" slit in the flannel side to turn the whole blanket. The cute applique covers the turning slit.
This is definetly something you'll see again on this blog.

That blanket is adorable!! So smart to cut to turn and then applique over the cut!

Your kitchen swap goodies are in the mail as we speak! Hope you like them as much as I liked making them!

It is very pretty! So if I understand correct you had to sew all those round curves on your sewing machine?

Lovely blanket! Very clever idea to preserve the scallops by cutting and turning elsewhere! The applique just finishes it off.

Great job on the blanket Marcia! I love the fabrics and that little applique is so cute. I made this blanket for a coworker as a Christmas gift and it was absolutely fun to make (and she loved it!)
