A trip to the homestead

My husband's family came to America from Finland. My DH was raised in the farmhouse his father was born in. I love the old buildings on the property. He decided to side the sauna this past weekend. Neither one of us has ever sided before. I think it's turning out pretty nice. We're going to trim the windows in a blue color.Quilting skills came in handy with cutting and measuring. We made a little template off the first piece and really did the back in quick time. This building has a little change room with a water pump and a large sauna area. It's heated with wood so it gets very hot in there.
The front is gonna be a little more tricky. We're going back this Sunday to hopefully complete our project and enjoy a good hot sauna.
This woodshed is right beside the sauna. I love the old worn color of the boards. My sister in law keeps flowers planted everywhere. I wish these hollyhocks were blooming, but they will and it's still beautiful to me just this way.
Sorry for the lack of completed projects. I did make some cute burp cloths and a great bath blanket for the shower we had for my new grandniece this past weekend. Somehow, I never got any pics of what I made...Too distracted by how cute she is and how happy I am for my sister and her family. Life is good!

I would love to have my own sauna. What a wonderful project to work on, that building looks so nice. It will be great once your finished. I hope you will give us a peek when it's done?

How wonderful to have a sauna - looks like a pretty spot for it.
