Short Break

Just a short break to get things back on track here. I'm looking forward to this weekend as we are having a local Quilt Show. It will be good to get some inspiration. There will be short demonstration sessions all day, both days. There is a "market".......Ü I'll be back with pictures soon.

Favorite Friday Blog Finds

Crazy mom quilts, did another fantastic tutorial on how to make a ragged squares quilt. Her site is the best for tutorials and quilting information.

Penny, at Sewtakeahike, has posted pictures of fusion bags she made. I've seen these before, but her take on it is truly inspirational. Thanks Penny.

Just a little knitting and lots of cleaning going on at this homefront....

This tea towel apron tutorial is very nicely done.

As the weather gets cooler, here's a free pattern for a knitted hat with a button tab. There are so many cool buttons out there. What a great way to showcase something.

Here's a good tutorial for a neck warmer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so in honor of that here's a link to a free scarf pattern.

Since I'm on a roll with knitting patterns...here's a link to a pattern for long wrist warmers and hand warmers. Kate, at Philigry, already knitted up Toast for herself. I'd better dust those knitting needles off. She's right, these would make a great gift.

New Cell Phone

A new cell phone calls for a new cozy. At a recent quilt retreat, I made myself a new checkbook cover and wonder wallet. With leftover fabric,I made this little pouch for my cell. It has batting in it, so it is somewhat padded. There is a little velcro closure on the top inside too. Ü I have a coin purse cut out and ready to sew the zipper in today. The fabric is Picket Fence...I love it!

This little draw string bag is too cute! And, it's reversable!
This great mini baby quilt that toys, teething rings can be attached to.
Now for some Seasonal finds:
This is the cutest trick or treat bag...check it out.
A Halloween link for a paper pieced pumpkin.
Speaking of Halloween....Here's a link for a little cat bowling. It's as much fun for adults as kids.

Pin Cushion

I did it...I actually made something from a Favorite Friday Blog Find!
I used 1" wide black elastic instead of twill tape. I sewed the elactic together and just stretch it on over my hand. (No need for velcro)
The fabric was too perfect for the project. It's a great little pin cushion. I'm off to sew some more!

More Retreat Projects

I made this Bend the Rules baby blanket with some vintage fabric my daughter found and flannel. The dragon fly covers the slit I cut to turn the blanket. It turned out real cute with embroidered wings.I know you must be sick of these baby shoes I'm so addicted to...I fussy cut this pair out of scraps.
On the bottom it says snap out of it.

Retreat Projects

I've made this dress before, but this is the first long sleeve version I've made. I love the brown flowered print.

A good shot of the back so you can see the cute bow. Ü

Since it is October, I'm passing along this link for Halloween Hangman.

Enjoy!

Quilt Retreat

Lots of laughter, sewing, eatting, and a little sleeping at out quilting retreat this past weekend. The leaves have reached their peak colors, so it was beautiful. We had our first frost while there. Brrrr.

This is just one of the items I worked on this past weekend. I bought the panel last Fall. I hope to handquilt this piece. I haven't ever handquilted anything other than a sampler piece during a class. Hopefully, it will go well and I'll be snuggling under this beauty next Fall.

Favorite Friday Blog Finds

This is a sweater I just completed for a co-worker, who had a beautiful baby boy.
Packed and off to a quilting retreat. I cut out numerous items ahead of time, so hope to have lots of completed things to share next week.

Check out this link for Witches Brew
You do need to scoll down a bit to find it.

I've toyed with making these recycled Christmas Card Baskets filled with candy or goodies for someone.

I posted about this last year, but have since rediscovered it. These Christmas cards are too cute and a great way to use up some scraps of fabric.

This wrist pincushion looks easy and fun to make.
