The Purl Bee has patterns for Easter knit finger puppets.

Oh Frasson! is doing a quilt along. This square within a square is my favorite block she does. Especially in vintage fabrics.

I've made one of these portable ironing boards. If you haven't yet the directions are here.

Amandajean (Crazy Mom Quilts) did a tutorial on how to make a zig zag quilt over at Bee Square Blog.

Fabric covered box tutorial.

Canning jar pincushion tutorial.

Blotto

This is my second time to participate in our quilting guild's Blotto. Each person that wants to makes a designated block. (directions are given at the meeting) At the next meeting, everyone brings in their block and puts their name in a drawing to receive all the blocks. Butterflys make me think of Summer, and with snow still on the ground here, it made my day
a little hopeful to work on this project.

I found some other links for paper pieced Butterflys here, here and here.

Quilting

After I completed the Moda Blocks for April's meeting, I realized I never posted the blocks that I did for our March meeting. Each month we make two blocks of the month and one nine patch.

I got to spend the day Friday, sewing at a friend's house. It was a great opportunity to get these blocks ready for our April meeting.
Our Moda Club is also working on a mystery baby quilt that both Rose and I took the opportunity to get caught up on. I can hardly wait to see how this will turn out. You know how much I like to work on baby projects. Ü
It was such a great day. Like a one day quilt retreat! I stayed much more focused than I get to at home with so many other distractions.

Brooklyn Tweed, on their 3/12/09 post featured this adorable little baby hat. It is a free Berroco pattern. What a difference the yarn color choices made in this project.

Color Project

Not blogging much because I've been working on projects. Our local quilting guild had a brown bag exchange of a piece of fabric. Our presentation this past month was on the color wheel. I received a blue fat quarter. Using my color wheel, I picked an analogous split-complimentary with ALOT of guidance from Kathryn at Alley Kats Quilt Shop. (Color is very difficult for me.)The guild has a lending library. I had checked out this book. There was a Bursting Star Block in here I was hoping would work well for this project.
Ta Da! My color project! Ü We were asked to make them into Teddy Bear Quilts for a chartiy project. After it's quilted and bound, you'll probably see this again.

Since it is Friday, here are two links to some simple ideas:
This one is for St. Patrick's Day, a pretzel and chocolate shamrock.
The new issue of Knitty is out and this shawl pattern is so lovely!

I know you've seen this same style sweater before (It's my "signature" baby gift). This one is also going to a co-worker. That's two done and six more to go...
I love vintage things and this apron is inspiring. At Tie One On, the new theme is no $. Encouraging us to make aprons using what we have.

SewMamaSews posted a link with all of the Fat Quarter Fabric Projects on one page.

My oldest daughter turned 25, this past week. She has a miniture daschund, so I couldn't resist this fabric to rest her head upon.

And, this charm pack to make a pillow for her couch.

Quilt Progress

It still needs to be quilted, but I'm finally done with the top! It feels good to be catching up on so many things I've started.

The binding will be the red fabric. I need to piece the back yet. My goal to completion is 3/18... It's really not going to be used until December of 2009.
