I first fell in love with this Michael Miller baby quilt pattern....and then I found some fabric....

The top was completed at a recent quilt retreat.  Looking for some time to get the back done.  This is going in my "grandma box" for some day.

Monday Show and Tell

This simple baby blanket is 28" square. Just the right size for a stroller or car seat. Pre packaged blanket binding made this a very easty project. One side is a Minky type material, the other is flannel.

I love little knitting projects. And, this one turned out super cute. It's a newborn to 3month size. Yarn and Pattern by Sirdar.

Moda Bakeshop Fun

I have admired this quilt from Moda Bake Shop for some time now. On National Quilting Day, I stayed in my sewing room all day. (It was wonderful!). I love this quilt because it really is made with just one charm pack and 1 1/4 yards of solid fabric for the top.

It's at the quilter's to be quilted now. Because I'm not quilting it myself, it took 1 1/3 yards for backing and 1/3 yard for binding. I'll show it again after it's quilted and bound, but I'm very pleased with the Moda instructions. The directions for how to press the seams, makes the whole quilt easy to put together. The only thing I would do different is cut my squares for the pinwheels, and not sew half triangles (you know, draw a line down the center of the square, sew 1/4 inch on each side of it and then cut.) Those prairie points just make it look so whimsical!

Baby Sweater

Using two colors made knitting this sweater go quickly. I'd say just one more row of green ...Sweater is made from this pattern using Bernat Satin. It makes up in sizes 12 months -4 years.
(Mine is a 12 month size.)

Pleasant Home did it again. (I love her stuff!) She has directions for a pin wheel runner on her blog. She so graciously allows others to use her designs.

Love that sweater pattern!

I know I just showed a sweater like this recently. I loved the pattern so much that I made it again for a friend. This time, instead of knitting the pieces separately, I added the number of stitches for the fronts and back together. It is knitted up to the underarms as written. I cast off six stitches at the underarm spaces. I followed the pattern instructions for knitting the sleeves and yoke. Such a quick knit with great results!

I found some flannel print that matched and added 3 burp clothes to complete the gift.

Next time, I want to make this sweater in a purple... that's right after I get the other two baby sweaters I'm working on currently done of course!

Quilt Retreat Projects

It was so good to spend the weekend amongst other who love to sew! We had a great time. I worked on the pieced scrap border quilt. I admired the Red Pepper's so much.... This is made with scraps from the quilt I made my son and from projects I made for friends. It's going to be mine for on my knitting chair this Winter. It really is a fun quilt to make.

Just for a little diversion, I made some more burp cloths, a couple pillow cases and a baby receiving blanket. As always, I took more things to work on than time allowed...

I've made these little burp cloths before. They are such easy projects and such big hits with new moms.

More knitting

For my "grandma box" for someday, but currently hanging in my friends' yarn shop.
It has a very cute cabled hat that I just haven't completed yet.


The pattern is Mairead #2225 from Figheadh Yarnworks. The neck opening is a little small. The next time I make this, I would make the shoulder seams more narrow.

It's all about cupcakes

I recently made this above cupcake knitted hat for a co-worker. She is going to have a granddaughter. Her grandson loves cupcakes, so she is putting a cupcake gift bag together for him to give his new sister when she arrives. After I did the hat, I found some great cupcake fabric and made

some cupcake burp cloths and a cupcake bib.

I couldn't resist doing a little cupcake onsie as well. I have a few months yet...any other cup cake ideas out there? I bet her grandma calls her "cupcake" as a nic name when she gets here.

A small diversion

Cupcake baby hats! I made this one for a co-worker's new grandbaby. They would be cute on a newborn, but I don't know how they would look on a child older than that, except maybe on their birthday.

A little Diversion

My daughter brought this fabric over to me to make a gift for a friend of her's. Burp cloths and a onsie is short order! She was pleased. Yesterday I worked on an apron that I'm so excited to share with you too. It will be next week though. I'm headed to Wisconsin, with my daughter and a few of her friends to shop. (An excuse to get out of town over Spring Break.)

Baby Gifts

When I first started to sew again, a dear friend taught me how to make these bath blankets. I have so many co-workers expecting and want to shower them and their new babies with love. I'm hoping to do a bath blanket, sweater and burp cloths for most of them.Now that I've rediscovered how fun these are to make, I'll be making quite a few more.I'm trying to work on my stash and these are both from stash. One way or another, I'm getting my sewing room cleaned out...what a better way than to actually use what's in there instead of just adding to the stash!

More shoes

There are flecks of pink in Isabella's sweater, so I made these cute little shoes to go with it.

I was lucky enough to be at this co-workers delivery. This is for her special new little girl.

It's the Pure and Simple neckdown pattern. It would make a great first project for a new knitter.
