Merry Christmas

I'm as ready as I can be....Now, it's time to sit back, relax and enjoy. I hope you are finding the time to do the same.

My sister and her family are here from Hawaii to share this Christmas with us. It's been many years since we've seen each other so we are enjoying this wonderful time together. Merry Christmas to you and your families.

Crazy Mama Quilts did twelve little numbered bags (for the 12 days of Christmas) for her sisters this year. Read about it here. What a great idea. My mind is a whorl with ideas for stuffing: nail polish, some kind of bath salts, Holiday socks, lotion, a small frame....Wouldn't it be a nice way to do something nice for a busy mom who is trying to make Christmas special for everyone else...sort of a way for her to treat/take care of herself during this busy Season. I'm going to save this idea to do this for my girls when they are grown.

It's snowing and blowing bad here. Good day to be snuggled in with some needlework.

Christmas Crafting

This year, I tried a new craft. I'm not so sure that they look as good as I hoped. You dress up a Jiffy Pop Popcorn with a printed note and ribbon. I attached a gift certificate to our local movie rental shop. I hope my neighbors will enjoy this little something for their entire family. (Don't worry, they don't read my blog.) They are called popcorn toppers.
"Snowman Soup" and "Reindeer food" are becoming a tradition for me.
I like to make my own cards to attach to them. This year I made two big batches. All the gals at work that have little believers received some. I love spreading Christmas Joy.

I haven't posted one of these for a few weeks as I've been so busy actually making things! I could (do) spend hours looking at projects and how creative people are on this web. Here's a few things that made me happy this week.

This paper ornamant/package decoration done by How About Orange.

This recipe for cinnamon rolls. I don't like to cook alot, but I love to make a big breakfast on Christmas morning.

This little bird advent calendar is so sweet!

This recycled Christmas Card Ornament tutorial done so nicely by Liz at the Quilted Turtle.

Holiday Projects

I made this key fob following the tutorial at J Caroline. (I really do make some of the things I link to...) ÜMy oldest daughter has a mini dog like this. She works as a stylist and is gifting her co-workers my bandaid bags filled with the kinds of bandaids they like to use when the accidentally snip their fingers. I made 10 more of these yesterday.

These are made following the directions for the wonder wallet, only I used pieces that were 5X5, and 5X9. I used a stiff interfacing as well.
I made a couple of extras for some of my pals too. I love this crafting stuff!

Tradition

Almost every member of my immediate family has a Christmas Stocking knitted by me. (These aren't going to hang on the tree, I just put them there for their photo.) Since my neice and nephew are new parents, I thought they needed a stocking with their new titles on them as well.I used Nancy Lindberg's Christmas Socks pattern. Her pattern calls for stripes with different patterns like bells, elfs, snowmen, etc knitted in them. This time, I followed her pattern, but just did 8 row stripes. I love this pattern because it has an "after thought heel". The pattern also calls for worsted weight yarn and a size 9 needle (I used a size 8). It's a quick knit.

Moose Pillow

A co-worker has a 2 year old boy that comes to visit somtimes. When he was here last, I traced his hands and a foot to make his mom a special present. I embroidered this little moose, framed it in, and using this link, made this pillow for her couch. I'm looking forward to doing these for grandkids some day. When I was going through the Christmas stuff I've collected over the years, I found the fun foam ones my kids did when they were small. I'm hoping this pillow will hold up much better.

I did put buttons on the back to keep it from gaping open, but it fit so well I probably wouldn't have had to do that.
I just used computer paper to trace his hands and foot separately. I laid a clean sheet of computer paper over that to retrace it all as a moose, then transferred it to my beige fabric.
It was worth it all to see the joy on Carrie's face when I gave it to her. I hope this post brings you a little inspiration and Joy this Season.
