Winners

If you haven't yet, check out the Scrap Buster Winners at Sew Mamma Sew! Congrats to the winners. I voted! The Fall Pillow Topper from my post yesterday won as well as Penny, from Sew Take A Hike. Both blogs I follow. I'll be following Red Pepper Quilts from now on too!
This was another favorite tutorial in the Scrap Buster Month. It's a doll quilt made with scraps by Amanda Jean.
It always makes me happy to find a great tutorial out there. Thanks ladies for so much great inspiration!

I'm really lovin these colors. It's a free baby sweater pattern that you can find here.
I couldn't resist this one either. It should knit up pretty fast on size 8 needles. Pattern here. When I get bored with one, I pick up another.... I am what I am....

This cute button pin.

I'm not one to spend much time in the kitchen....but, these cookies looks like they would be fun to make for Halloween.

And, who doesn't love the Poochie Bag! Now there is the itty bitty poochie!

This pinwheel bobby pin is oh, so cute!

Shopping

We stopped at two quilt shops on our way home from Green Bay. Bruce even took some nice walks so I could browse. I couldn't resist this cute print. I bought some flannel for a backing to make a simple baby blanket. There should be enough for burp cloths too. I bought what she had of this print, but found it here with more prints by the same artist.

Who could resist these little bears, and turtles? Then, I found this worn out pig (Olivia) fabric....
Pillowcases.....it's all about pillowcases for me right now....I'm going to look for an Olivia book to pair up with these.

A friend of mine made pillowcases out of one fabric. (She still cut the cuff and sewed it on with some kind of accent stitching) The rose one is going to be for me. You can't see the detail on the other one from this picture, but this will become a set as a thank you for someone I know.

We also stopped at Quilts 'n Stuff, in Escanaba. I bought this pattern for an apron. The slit one is actually the back of the apron. It slips over your head. I didn't realize the store owner designed the pattern till this morning, when I was looking at the pattern better! She's a great gal. You can find this pattern for on line purchasing here.
She also sells scrap bags of fabric and her own tote patterns. You can see more about these here. I made up one and have a kit to make one more. There are plenty of my own scraps in my sewing room to play with too...I guess I'd better get busy!

Trip to the Green Bay Packer Game

We just got home from spending the night in Green Bay. I was lucky enough to win skybox tickets to the Packer/Lions Game this past Sunday. (My name was drawn out of 500!)
This is my Packer Fan husband, who is was a very happy guy on Sunday.
The skybox was stocked with all kinds of food and drinks. At halftime, the dessert cart came around! It was all very luxuarious.

Great view of the game in person, but there were also TV's in the box to watch the replays on up close.

We'll never be able to do this again. We were so grateful for the experience.

More knitting

For my "grandma box" for someday, but currently hanging in my friends' yarn shop.
It has a very cute cabled hat that I just haven't completed yet.

The pattern is Mairead #2225 from Figheadh Yarnworks. The neck opening is a little small. The next time I make this, I would make the shoulder seams more narrow.

Cabled Scarf

A little over half way done with this little scarf. The cables don't show up well on my picture. You can find the free pattern here. There are pockets on each end of this scarf.

There is something wonderful about getting together with other knitters. Got to spend a few hours catching up and being inspired by my girlfriends this evening. It always makes me want to finish what I'm working on to start on something they inspired me to do.

Quilt Festival, My Favorite Quilt

Quilt Festival
To date this is still my favorite quilt. I suppose it's because of all the love that went into it.
I made it for my son the year he graduated. He was planning to move out West, and I wanted him to be able to still be "wrapped in his mother's love".

This quilt has travel to California, Maine, and now resides back out West, in Nevada. He is currently working for a snowboarding company, going to school and as of this weekend, snowboarding in his free time.

I originally blogged about it way back here.

Slippers

This little Sugar and Cream slipper caught my eye at the website for their free patterns. I first made a medium size 7-8. It was a little big on my size 8 foot. It could probably be shrunk down some in the dryer... Ü Gotta love cotton and wool for that!
I did make it again in the smallest size and was much more pleased with the results. It works up quickly. With Winter on it's way, it would be easy to carry a set of these in a purse or pocket for when the boots come off. I'm thinking it would make a nice little Christmas gifty paired with a pillow case. You can find the pattern here.

I've been doing small projects. This garterlac dishcloth is a freebie found here. I've made this before. I also made one of my old favorites again...the apron dishcloth. I like this one so much because it can hang to dry.

These two were found in this book. I made the traditional knit 2 y/o knit to the end one also. I even tried my hand a a free crocheted one (below). I must say, the crocheted ones work up quickly. This pattern is really meant for the striped Sugar and Cream.

I have a great baby set I'm working on and a scarf with pockets to show soon. Fall is here. There should be more sewing projects here soon and life settles back to "normal". It was a great but very busy Summer. In keeping with getting back to posting....I'm back with Favorite Friday Blog Finds.

House on Hill Road made these cute pot holders. She also shares some great links at this post.

This great little zippy wallet tutorial, has wonderful pictures.

P.S. I Quilt has a very nice tutorial for a "friendship" tote. The music while you watch this tutorial is awesome!
