Favorite Friday Blog Finds

As I was hanging clothes on the line yesterday, I decided the very next thing I'm going to make is my own version of this clothespin apron. I love the whole idea of it. I've blogged about this in the past, it's time to get it done!

A big thank you to Lisa for being so patient. There is defintely some chocolate headed your way for my tardiness. I've really been enjoying the kitchen things you sent me.

Just a few Favorite Links this week:

This quick little idea for a silverware/napkin holder is worth passing on.

Scrubbie pattern posted here.

A little something for the soul from Sewtakeahike. This little gem came at just the right time this week and has given me much to reflect upon.

A huge time saver from blogger. Now I can easily see when someone writes a new post right from my own blog.

Swap Package Recieved

I'm participating in the kitchen swap that Pink Petal Designs hosted. Although mine has yet to go in the mail (Before the end of this week, I promise Lisa), I recieved these fun packages today. They arrived tied with vintage looking fabric strips (presentation... Ü)

You probably can't see the writing on the tag, but it says to take the ribbon out of the "pants" and it becomes two dishclothes.

This mini apron to adorn my detergent bottle is too cute! It has a little gathered ruffle on it.

She sells these eco friendly, reusable produce bags in her etsy shop . Can't wait to take these with me to the grocery.

I also got a reversable, vintage looking apron! Love the colors! I especially like the way she has a half dishtowel that buttons on. She blogged about this idea here. Very clever!

I got a little excited about that new grand niece that is on the way (in less than two weeks...) I do pledge to get my kitchen package out in the mail by this Friday Lisa. So sorry for my tardiness....maybe I can make it up to you with some chocolate.

My baby just turned 17 this month. She will be a Senior in High School this year. These are my favorite two of her Senior pics so far.
They grow up so quickly. She is such a fun kid. I can't believe that's my baby...

Okay, on to favorite blog finds this week:
Check out these great little beaded covers at Queenly Things.

Some great recipies from Philigry.

And, there is this great gift idea from Happy Valley Quilter, that I found while checking out this Dip Recipe at Thimbleanna.

My Spare Time posted a tutorial for a recessed zipper.

Bend The Rules Blanket

I've been wanting to make this blanket for a long time now. A friend had made it first and gave me a few pointers.I made a plastic template, then using a water soluable pen, traced around it. I pinned it out with right sides together (duh..) then sewed on my tracing lines.
Instead of leaving two scallops open, like the directions said, I sewed around the entire blanket. Pinked the seams and cut the curves. Then, I cut about a 3" slit in the flannel side to turn the whole blanket. The cute applique covers the turning slit.
This is definetly something you'll see again on this blog.

Not much time on the internet this week. I did get this sweater done for "baby girl"--just needs some cute buttons.Hiking tonight with the hubby---I was desert for the noseeums and misquitoes that were out there...

A spoonful of Sugar posted about lavendar crafts. Lavendar is my favorite scent.

Favorite Friday Blog Finds

I did get a hat done for "baby girl". I had planned to put more flowers on it, but like the simplicity of just the one rosebud.

Took a little break from knittting for some organizing. I bought some of the white, wire bins from a friend and organized all my stash by sock yarn, worsted, DK, novelty, etc. I love it! I emptied two bins into this. Now I can actually see what I have. (We're not even gonna talk about what is still under the bed...) The bags in front are projects I've started that need some finishing up...
Now on to the great idea, instructions found in blogland this week:

Fitted crib sheet tutorial, well done by Joanna at Star Dust Shoes. Be sure to check out the whole baby room that was done with the same fabric theme! OMG! It's cute! JCaroline commented/posted about this too.

Cowls are huge in the knitting community right now. Lots of patterns out there...an easy knit...a great gift. Craftapalooza listed several great links to patterns.

More in keeping with the Season, I found a great beach blanket idea from Martha.

New Addition

The "wheels have been turning" here. I got the best news this week... My nephew and his wife are adopting a baby. She (it's a girl!) will be here the end of the month. So instead of 40 weeks to get ready, we now have 4 weeks. (Of course, we have been waiting years for just such a blessing.)

I have a hat knit (It just needs flowers attached), and a pink sweater started. Hope to get a bath blanket, a flannel blanket, bibs, onsie dress, and another hat done before June 30th. I've packed all my works in progress away to focus only on our brand new addition to the family! Oh, and burp rags! So many projects... What's your favorite baby girl project?

There is one current project I'm very excited about completing though. I did sign up for a kitchen swap at Pink Petal Designs. What a great idea for a swap. My swap partner is Lisa , it's such a fun way to make new blog friends. I have some great ideas for this swap.

Speaking of blog friends, Sherry sent me this pack of flannel squares from her Terrific Tuesday Giveaway. Once I have sufficiently gifted my new grand niece, I'll be making a quilt for charity with this packet. Thanks Sherry.

Sherry is hosting a Wizard of Oz Swap so check it out. My little "Dorothy" is just about to turn 17, but she still loves the Wizard Of Oz. I'm gonna have to participate in this swap!

Her friend, "Glenda" just graduated from High School this past week....they grow up way to fast!

It's done! One skein, quick and easy. I might need to move my button. I love that it doesn't have to be pulled over the head (I hate static hair!), and I really like that collar. It will look much nicer under a Winter coat. (No more Winter talk! It's almost Summer!) Check out these other really cute cowls. It does make for some quick, fun Summer knitting.
