Favorite Friday Blog Links

Two more scarves showed up at my house. Thanks Carol and Sandy!
Check out all these wonderful scarves! (Mine is still in the works...yes, I'm the slacker of the group....) Between my sister and several other knitting friends, we will be sending 13 scarved to Craft Hope for Foster Teens. I will get mine done and mail them out by Monday. It's amazing to me how many were made so quickly. Several people made two! Thanks to Betsy, Jane, Kate, Niki, Helen and Shirley!

Jenny, currently has a tea towel challenge going on over at her blog. This is her wonderful bag tutorial. Check it out and what others are creating.

Check out this post for a great way to organize and display fabric. I could see me lining up what next to work on....Oh, the possibilities!

Quilts for Kids

I did NOT make this cute quilt. But, a fellow quilter brought it recently to a Moda Meeting. She told us about this group call Quilts For Kids. When you go to their site, you can sign up to have a kit sent to you. Their kit includes the back, all the materials to make a quilt except the batting, your time to sew it and quilt it.

Her's was adorable. I went home that night to sign up for a kit. I signed up on 1/20/10. Today, 1/27/10, I received my kit.

It came by UPS. The tag says "For every kit we send out, please consider including one or more of your own creations so we can double or triple the amount of children we wrap a quilt around!"
Look at these wonderful fabric! I can hardly wait to get started! It came with instructions and a quilt label. I hope you will consider helping them out too.

A new tote

My sister, Shirley had purchased this gift of charms, coordinating fabric and This & That Pattern, as an exchange gift we did at a quilt retreat last year. I was the lucky recipient of it.
At this past quilt retreat, it became my newest tote. (I admit it....I'm a bag lady...) I love to have each project I'm knitting on in it's own bag. This particular bag is called Mom and Me.
I didn't put the outside pocket on it. It's a generous sized tote.

Speaking of knitting...My sister has completed her red scarf and mine is now half way done. Have to kick it in high gear as I plan to mail them out the end of the week.

Block of the Month

I'm just back from a wonderful quilt retreat weekend. It was so fun to see what everyone else is making. Ate way too much great food. Can hardly wait to go again! I'll post pics of projects soon, but found this link today to a Block of the Month embroidery project called Under the Sea.
Wanted to make sure to share it with you. I'm not sure who it will go to, but I'm planning to make it as the first block is ADORABLE! She also shows a demo of how she color shades her embroidery work. I'm going to stick with the crayons, but will follow her color scheme.

Snowbound

Bunny Hill has started a Block of the Month, titled Snowbound. This is the January block.
My friend Carol made this one which is appliqued.

I did an embroidered one using Crayola Crayons to give it some color. It could be done as red work or blue work too.

You can join in the fun here.

Knitting for Charity

I just started a sweater for myself, but I'm putting those needles down long enough for the red scarf project over at Craft Hope. Anyone else who lives local that decides to do this, I'll mail all ours out at the same time. January 30th will be my mail out date. Hope you'll join in.

If I wear gloves, they are usually the fingerless kind. This is Dashing, from WWW.Knitty.com

Mine were made with Naturally Sensations yarn. It would take two skeins for a pair. I think there will be enough left over to make Fetching too.

Baby Sweater

Using two colors made knitting this sweater go quickly. I'd say just one more row of green ...Sweater is made from this pattern using Bernat Satin. It makes up in sizes 12 months -4 years.
(Mine is a 12 month size.)

More projects

Simple rolled brimmed knitted hat with Iceland Wool from Crystal palace. It's made on size 11 needles. Was made as a demo.

Paper pieced tree I made at a class tonight taught by Darla. Even though I've been paper piecing some since she originally taught me, I picked up a few things I missed the first time around. She says either you love or hate paper piecing. I think I love it!
