Button Note Cards

Aren't these the cutest! Get over to Jessica's blog , How About Orange, to down load the PDF file to print these out yourself. Be sure to leave her a comment to thank her for such a great little treat. I see a stack of these in my future... Ü

A Great Day Off

I went to the Library today. I'm pages away from being done with book 8. Everyone I read I think is the funniest. Janet Evanovich, is a hoot. Her characters make me laugh out loud. Sometimes I have to stifle my laughter. (Like when the hubby is sleeping and I'm reading.)

With the help of my craftroom fairy, block 11 is done! Isn't she adorable.

My friend Lisa, made her for me. I move her around my room from time to time. Lisa even knitted her little sweater.
Today I completed my doll clothes swap outfit. The little tote helped to set the outfit off. I knitted the bodice and added some crochet edging. There are three snaps in the back.
This is the lining in the little tote. Too cute! I have three other gals to swap with and the sponsor of the swap is collecting an outfit for a donation to a local women's shelter . I'm working on the third bodice. All the dress parts are sewn and ready to attach. I think I'm going to make the deadline. Time permitting, I'm going to knit some little undies too.

I spared you more Wonder Wallet pictures....But, yes, I'm still making them! Love it!

Block 10

Block 10 is done. I can hardly wait now to get these blocks organized into a quilt. We only have two more weeks of blocks. It's this time of Winter---gray skys and cold, cold weather that makes me long for walks on the beach with some warm sunshine....

Good Times

You're never too old to get a doll. My dearest friend, Lisa made this for my for my birthday! Isn't she the cutest Olive you've seen? We are both huge fans of Wee Wonderful. I'm going to have to make her some friends.
We made a trip to several quilt shops today. Spent the car ride catching up on each others kids. We had lunch at a wonderful little place. It was a Quilter's Holiday.

Flower Child Booties

I'm showing these today, because my sewing room is still in such a state that I can't show it yet. I worked ALL day yesterday on it. In the a.m., I took everything out of it and put it on my bed -- that way it had to be done so I could sleep... I ended up filling 5 grocery sacks of things that still need to be put back around 8:30 last night! Ugh! It is going to feel good to work in a tidy room though.

I worked on completing these little booties last night. I'll cast off today.
The pattern is by Marla Mutch. I'm going to knit at my girlfriend's yarn shop today. She carries the pattern if you are interested.
I'm making these for a co-workers little one. He is 17months old. It is a great way to use up leftover sock yarn. The pattern is very easy. No heel turning.

Tulip Sweater

When I cleaned out my favorite knitting bag last week, I found four neglected projects in there... This just needed the I-cord tie and the ends tucked in and whala! The Yarnharlot blogged about this sweater way back in May of 07
A group of us from work got together to order the yarn and divide it up into kits. It was so popular, we were unable to get the exact colors. The yarn is a dream to work with, I loved the pattern, just not our combination so much. Then, I saw that Lene did it in a color way that made my heart skip beats...Still, it goes in my someday grandma box. There is alot of love in this little sweater.

I won!

I actually won a drawing! It was in celebration of AmyJo's 100th posting.
I have been checking her site since discovering it during the Quilt A Long. Not only does the woman sew, but she stamps. Aren't these great little cards! Oh, they make me so happy! It all makes me happy!
As if that wasn't enough...she beads! She made me this wonderful necklace. You would all be crying with laughter if you could have seen me trying to take this picture.....
I don't know how those teenagers do all those self portraits! It doesn't help that the "old woman" I see in the photo is not the young girl I think I am! I deleted about 10 and settled for this one. Saturday I turn 49! I remember when I thought that was really old. Next year I'll be half way to a Smucker's Jar!

Quilt A Long

Here it is, block 9. I sure am lovin this quilt a long. There are so many things I want to make, so many projects I have have in drawers waiting to be completed. The worst part is all the new fabric lines coming out...I'm weak and unable to resist adding to my stash. Let's not even mention the sales....I made a few more wonder wallets. These are for Valentines Day. I'm going to put a few things in them for my daughters and close friends.
I was sewing yesterday and lookin at a wonderful piece of wool that was given to me. I'm thinking it's probably going to be a doll coat. Hopefully, next week, it will be.

More Baby Things

I knitted this little bonnet. It is a free pattern, I just made it without the ears or face on it. Then, I made bibs to match the burp cloths. Way to much fun!
Then, using the Winsome Baby Book, by Art to Heart, I made this diaper/wipe holder for in a tote bag. It is suppose to hold 2 diapers and a small box of wipes.
I made a frame in the fabric in the bib and small tote to showcase more of the animal print I had picked up. A little putzy, but worth the effect.

Burp

When I saw this little guy, I knew just what I wanted to make. One of the doctors I work for is expecting a baby boy this month. Isn't this the cutest little tiger? And, he had friends! Couldn't resist making a few more. Her nursery is jungle themed, so these should work out grrrreat!

Addicted

Help! I can't stop making, planning and thinking about making these!I put the snaps on these with those plier things they make for that. I tried sewing snaps on and then a yoyo with a button on it for accent. That was cute too! Now, I'm wondering how they would work if I put a button hole on the flap... I think they would make great little gifties. It could hold a Target gift card, movie money, a small pair of earrings. My teenage daughter could give these with a gift in for a friend's birthday. (She said I would have to use different fabric. She only liked the one with the owl, and I didn't put it in the right place for her...) I might add a loop to the side to put a key ring on (I would like one like that.) The pattern calls for two pockets semi sewn together for a coin section, I choose to make them without the coin section. I have a small zippered thing for coins. I wonder how many of these I'll have done by the end of the weekend...
There are some other tutorials and free patterns at www.Lazygirldesigns.com check them out.

Caught Up

Squeeked this out just before I had to leave for work. Block 8
Before I could work on this I had to clean up buttons I had poured out,
searching for just the right one, yesterday. Mom had given me some old milk jugs. I'm going to need more bottles. Now, I want to separate those loose buttons by colors and put them on a shelf in my sewing room!
This 0fficially catches me up with the Quilt A Long! Yeah! Now maybe I should spend a few days reorganizing so I can enjoy my sewing room more....

Quilting

Block 7 today! I'm catching up. Hope to get block 8 done later this week.

Working on my goals for the year. Weight is down a little. Started exercising....wow, there are alot of muscles I hadn't heard from in a long time. It doesn't hurt to climb the stairs, but the going down takes a bit...

I'm following the Biggest Loser Plan. Yesterday I broke open the Biggest Loser Exercise DVD. It is very cool. There are options for workouts. They encourage you to do workouts 1 & 3 one day then 2 & 4 the next day for 6 weeks. Then, there is a 20 min "Boot Camp" workout on there somewhere and a way for you to compose your own workout. Definitely worth buying. If my thighs could talk, they'd advise against it!

Baby Sweater

When I first saw this sweater here, I fell in love with everything about it. (You have to scroll down a bit at the link above.) I especially loved the color selection, but more than that, the fabric covered buttons.I ordered the pattern and made this for a friend who is expecting her first daughter, Violet this Spring.

It was my first attempt at fabric covered buttons. I love this pattern and will definitely make it many more times.

Step by Step

A New Year's Resolution was to be more organized. I dug right in and started with all my patterns. I bought a file box for my sewing patterns and a separate one for my knitting/crochet patterns. Two boxes of hanging file folders. Now, maybe I'll be able to actually find a pattern I know I have....

I didn't really set my blog up as a place to write alot of my personal feelings, but more as a place for me to keep track of things I've actually stuck to and completed, a place to keep track of patterns I love and a place to connect with old and new friends. I'm so very inspired by what I see when I visit blogs. Thanks to all of you that share so eloquently and are so artistic. I did want to share this thought though...

I realized this weight didn't come on overnight, this house didn't become cluttered yesterday...it's unrealistic and overwhelming to me to think it will all be the way I want it to overnight...So, today I cleared off a dresser top, wrote down my menu for the day, and completed block 4. Ü

Step by Step, Pound by pound, pile by pile, project by project....

Catching up with the Quilt Along

Completed block 5. I had to make this one twice, because I messed up...Completed block 6, and so far, it's my favorite.
Then I grouped them all together....Do you know what's missing from this picture? Yup, block 4! I was further behind than I thought!!!!
And, block 7 was posted today...I'm determined to catch up this week. This project really makes me happy. It makes me smile everytime a block comes together the way she says it will. Good thing I took a beginning quilting class that taught me about ironing seams opposite directions to help align all those blocks. I don't think I would've been able to do this well otherwise. Looking forward to seeing the final project and everyone else's too.
